To say that I agonized over my third, fourth, and fifth guesses would be putting it mildly. It seemed like there was a very large pool of possible answers after my second guess. I used my next three guesses to eliminate letters until I finally found one that fit. It occurred to me that there might be a second R in the answer but I didn’t see how I could test that theory without possibly wasting a guess.

GOFER was one of a myriad of possible answers that occurred to me after my second guess but I didn’t feel comfortable giving it a go until my sixth guess.
