I spent most of my time on my fourth guess. I’m not sure why it took me so long to see that possibility. If I had thought of it when I was working on my third guess then I probably would have tried it then.

My second guess (according to the bot) narrowed things down to six possible answers. My third guess narrowed it down to just one.

That’s it for the month of August. I finished the month with an average score of 3.77 guesses per game. This is the first time this year that my monthly average score has been less than 4 and the first time since Jun 2025 that my monthly average has been below 3.8 guesses per game.

My +/- 4 score for August was 5. That’s the first time this year that score has been positive for any one month but my overall score and my score for my current winning streak both remain negative. The last time I has a +/- 4 score of 5 or more was in Jun 2025.

This is just the second month in which I have had at least five 5G games and five 0Y games. The other month in which this happened was Mar 2023, when I also had five 5G games and six 0Y games.

I had one game this month (on 08/18/26) in which yellow occurred more frequently than black or green without a majority of the letters being yellow. It was the 32nd time that has happened.

I had one 5.5.5 game (in which there was exactly five green, five yellow, and five black letters) this month (on 08/03/26). It was my seventh 5.5.5 game and the first time since May 2025 that I have had such a game.

My first thought after my third guess was that I (the letter) must be the second letter but then I (not the letter but me) had trouble thinking of any words that fit that pattern so I started looking elsewhere. That’s how I wound up choosing my fourth guess. There was one other possible solution (according to the bot) after my third guess. That word did come to mind before I thought of INTEL but I wasn’t sure if the spelling was correct and decided to keep looking.

I spent most of my time on my third guess. I figured that the answer had to end with H or K. This suspicion was confirmed by the bot which indicated that there were five possible answers after my second guess and just one after my third guess.
