I really agonized over whether I should turn off hard mode and go with Plan B after my third guess but ultimately I decided that there probably weren’t enough possible words left. I was still a little worried (after making that decision) that I might be overlooking something.

I’m not surprised that I found one letter with my first guess. I am surprised by which letter it was. I thought for sure that if anything it would be a vowel.

That’s it for April. I had an average score of 4.40, my second highest monthly average. It is only eclipsed by my average for Jul 2025 (4.55).

For the fourth consecutive month I had a negative +/- 4 score. This time it was -7 or seven more games that I finished in more than 4 guesses than I did in fewer than 4 guesses. All of the games I finished in fewer than 4 guesses were completed in 3 guesses.

I didn’t have any 0Y (aka field of green) games this month. That’s the fourth time that has happened in a calendar month. This month ended a streak of 25 months in which I had at least one 0Y game per month.

I had one game in which yellow occurred more frequently than either green or black (04/09/26) and one game in which there was an equal number of yellow and black letters and a lesser number of green letters (04/13/26). Neither of these happens very frequently. It was just the 30th time for the one and the 11th for the other.

I finished one game in under a minute and all my games in under 20 minutes. I finished 15 games in under 10 minutes and 15 games in 10 to 20 minutes.
