SHILL probably should have been my fourth guess. I had not tried H yet. I’m not sure wh I waited as long as I did to try it.

This is the fifth time that I have finished back to back games in 6 guesses. I have never finished three games in a row in 6 guesses.

I don’t plan on making a habit of playing words like DRIPS but this time I wanted to and it did help.

It was smart of me to turn off hard mode but I should have done it sooner and also I got lucky.

I probably should have turned off hard mode after my third guess. My fifth guess, in retrospect was not a very good one even though it did get me the D. A better fifth guess would probably have been VIBED. I would have been much more confident about making DIVER my sixth guess if VIBED had been my fifth one.

Getting back to reality, even after my fifth guess I saw at least three possible answers. DIVER was the first one that popped into my head so that’s the one I went with but I agonized over it quite a bit before finally giving it a try. Other possibilities I considered at that point were WIDER and RIDER. According to Wordlebot there was another possible word, EIDER.

Words cannot describe how relieved I am that my first guess didn’t in any way predict my performance in this game.

This is the first time this month that I have started a game with 2.0.3. This is the third month in a row that I have started at least one game with 2.0.3. I have started at least one game with 2.0.3 in 39 of the past 53 months.

Three of the four words I played today are words that I have never played in the past. WEIGH is the only one that I have played before and this is the seventh time I have tried it. It was the answer the fifth time I played it, earlier this year, on 02/03/26.

This is the second time this month and 21st time overall that I have found just one letter in my first three guesses. This the third time that such a game has also been a 0Y game.

This game took as long as it did for a couple reasons. First, I wanted my second guess to have just one vowel and five distinct letters. I probably spent a couple minutes looking for such a word, without success. I wound up settling for LAUGH.

Second, I thought of LEGAL almost immediately after my second guess but I would have preferred a word that didn’t have any letters repeated. I spent a couple minutes or more looking for such a word but eventually gave up and gave LEGAL a try. According to Wordlebot it was the only possible word left that I could play.

This game ends my streak of games that I started with 0.0.5 at four games. No new record. I will just have to settle for having put together two such streaks.

BUTTE came to mind almost immediately after my third guess but I probably spent more than a minute trying to think of other words before giving it a try.

This is the fourth consecutive game I have started with 0.0.5. This is the second time I have started four consecutive games with 0.0.5. I have never started more than four consecutive games with 0.0.5. The first time I started four consecutive games with 0.0.5 was at the end of Sep 2025.

This is the second time I have had a 0Y game that consisted of 8 green and 12 black letters. The first time this happened was 10/03/22. I also started that game with 0.0.5 but the placement of green and black letters in that game was different.

I finally decided to pay for the NYT games subscription.

Wordlebot didn’t like my first guess. It said my second guess was a good one but they favored a word that had two vowels, SLATE. According to them BUTTE was the only possible answer after my third guess.

I have to say that I think their analyses to be a mixed bag. I don’t understand the why they put such weight on figuring out what vowels are in the solution. There are only five vowels. There are 21 consonants to sort through while searching for the solution. I think it makes more sense to focus on the consonants first. The vowels are secondary in my mind.
