This is the first time I have started a game with 1.1.3 since Mar 26. This is the 14th consecutive month that I have started at least one game with 1.1.3. 

My monthly average for April was 4.07 which is better than my averages for Jan and Feb even though I didn’t lose any games in those two months and I did lose one in Apr. 

I did not finish any games in 2 guesses in Apr. The last time that happened was in Oct 2022.

I finished sixteen games in 4 guesses in Apr. This ties the high mark I set for games finished in 4 guesses. I have reached that mark twice before, in Sep and Dec 2022. 

I finished just two games in 5 guesses in Apr. That’s a new record low for me. The previous low was four games. 

I started 80 percent of my games (24/30) without a green letter in Apr. I did the same in Sep 2022 but I have yet to do better than that.

I didn’t start any games in Apr with two or more green letters. That’s the first time that has happened to me. 

I had four 5G games and one 0Y games in Apr. Neither of these sets a new record high or low for these statistics but I have yet to finish a month without at least one 0Y game. Dec 2022 was the last time I had just one 0Y game.

Phew!! That was very nearly my shortest streak yet. With this game I have tied my shortest streak up till now which happened back in Sep 2022 just before I began my longest streak to date.

I could see after my fourth guess that there was more than just two possibilities. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the possible answers were and what I should try next. I came up with six possible answers.

I looked back through past solutions and found one of the words I had written down (FOYER). That still left me with five possible answers and two chances to get it right. My fifth guess (BORER) eliminated three of the five words. The other two words it eliminated were BOXER and ROVER. It was a toss up at that point between JOKER and DOZER. I got lucky and chose the right word.

Looking back on it now I can see that if I had played BAKER as my fifth guess it would have narrowed it down to just JOKER. Of course, if JOKER had not been the answer and the answer began with a B then I still would have been left with a toss up between BORER and BOXER.

This streak has come to an end! BROKE broke my streak. I considered playing it but I chose not to. *sigh*

I spent a lot of time staring at this game after my fourth guess. I came up with three possible answers. There was unfortunately no overlap in the missing letters between the three words.

This is the second time this month that I have started with 0.0.5 on consecutive days.

This is the first time I have lost a game that started with 0.0.5. 

This streak lasted just over 7 months. It started on 20 Sep 2022. This was my eighth streak. My streaks have lasted an average of 53 games. This streak lasted almost exactly 4 times that long and accounts for just over half the games I have played. My streaks lasted an average of 30 games prior to this streak. 

I can see in retrospect what I should have done to win this game and keep this streak going. I should have guessed something (with my 5th guess) that I knew couldn't be the answer but would help me to eliminate at least one and maybe two of the three possible answers. I've done that before. I'm not sure why I didn't do it here.

This is the second consecutive day that I have had four yellow letters on my second guess. I don’t track that sort of thing but it seems unusual for that to happen.

This is the ninth Y game I have had. A Y game is one in which there are more yellow letters than either green or black ones but that the majority of the letters are not yellow. Y games happen (to me) on average about 2 percent of the time. That’s less than once a month but they have happened at least once (and usually just once) in eight of the past ten months.
