This was a frustrating game but I’m glad I managed to find the answer, as I ran out of guesses. I checked after the fact: LATER has not been but LASER and LAYER have been the answer in the past.

I had 21 green letters today. I had 25 green letters yesterday. This is the first time I have had 20 or more letters of any one color on consecutive days. I’ve tripled the number of games in which I have had more than 20 green letters in a single game since the day before yesterday.

I’ve doubled the number of games (from 2 to 4) in which I have had 20 or more letters of any one color in a single game since the day before yesterday. See notes from yesterdays game for more details on the times I had 20 black letters in a single game and the other time I had 21 green letters in a game.

This is the third time that I have finished back to back games in 6 guesses. 

This is the first time this month that I have started a game with 1.1.3. This is the sixth consecutive month that I have started at least one game with 1.1.3. I have started at least one game with 1.1.3 in 31 of the 32 months.

This is the fourth time that I have started a game with 1.1.3 and finished it successfully in 6 guesses. Additionally, the games that ended my first winning streak (21 games) and my eighth winning streak (213 games) began with 1.1.3.

That was nuts! So close so many times. I probably should have gone with Plan B. I almost blew it but I don’t think that there were any other possibilities left by the time I got to my sixth guess. 

I checked after finishing the game and among my incorrect guesses only NINER and PINER have not been the solution in the past.

This is the first time I have had 25 letters of any one color in a game and the third time I have had 20 or more letters of any one color in a game. This is the second time that I have had 20 or more green letters in a game. The previous time this happened was on 03/28/22 when I had 21 green letters. The only other time I had 20 or more letters of a single color in a game was in the game that ended my ninth wining streak (16 games). I had 20 black letters in that game which happened on 05/09/23. The most yellow letters I have had in a game is 12 and that happened just once on 04/02/22.

This is the first time I have started a game with 4.0.1. This is the eighth time I have started a game with just one black letter. Five of the previous seven times that I have started a game with just one black letter the combination was 0.4.1. Once I have started a game with 2.2.1 and once with 1.3.1. I finished all seven of those games in 2 to 4 guesses.  

This is the second time during my current winning streak and sixth time overall that I have finished a 0Y game in 6 guesses. The only other winning streak in which I finished more than one 0Y game in 6 guesses was my third winning streak (95 games). My second winning streak (42 games) was ended by a 0Y game but that game is not included in my count of 0Y games that I finished in 6 guesses because I did not complete it successfully.

I had doubts about trying LIEGE but that worked out quite well because it got all three letters that I had at that point into the right places. 

Once again, the right answer came to mind and I hesitated. This happened after my second guess. After thinking about it for about a minute I decided to give it a try.
