I spent most of my time on my fourth guess. I considered going with Plan B after my third guess but I couldn’t find any words that felt right enough for me. After my fourth guess I only saw one possible answer but I hesitated for maybe a minute while I tried to think of other possible answers.

This is only the second time that I have had a game that I finished in 5 guesses and consisted of 13 green and 12 black letters. The other time this happened was on 06/25/25. I started that game with PURTY.

This is the first time this month that I have started a game with 1.0.4 and finished it in 5 guesses. This is the third month in a row that I have started at least one game with 1.0.4 and finished it in 5 guesses. I have started at least one game with 1.0.4 and finished it in 5 guesses in 30 of the past 45 months.

This is just the sixth time in 45 months that 0.1.4 has not been either the most common start or in a tie for the most common start. The five previous times this has happened the most common start has been 0.2.3.

There was just one vowel in the answer but three guesses in I really started to wonder if I had made a mistake by not trying vowels other than U.

I checked after the fact and only my first guess has been the answer in the past.

I was having trouble finding a word that incorporated the two letters that I knew were in the answer and was contemplating trying a word that would help me find or eliminate more letters (but couldn’t be the answer) when I thought of COLIC and decided to give it a try.

This is the first time that I have finished a game in 4 guesses during my current winning streak. This is the furthest I have gotten into a winning streak before finishing my first game in 4 guesses. I was five games into my fourth and ninth winning streaks when I finished my first game in 4 guesses.

I considered making HOVEL my fourth guess but I thought for some reason that it had bern the answer in the past. After my fourth guess it looked like the only possible answer.

Each of my guesses got me one letter closer to the answer until I nailed it with my fifth guess. This is the fourth time this has happened this this year and the 18th time this has happened since I started playing Wordle.

I tried the L in every position until I finally got it in the right one with my fifth guess.

This game breaks the tie between my second most common start / finish combinations in favor of 0.1.4 and 5 guesses for the first time since 07/12/23. Every game since that day’s game (until today) was either a tie or 0.2.3 and 4 guesses was in the lead.

I don’t believe that just happened but seeing is believing.

This is the 60th game that I have finished in 2 guesses.

This game ends my most current streak of games streak of games without finishing a game in 2 guesses at 51 games. My longest streak of games without finishing a game in 2 guesses lasted 75 games but I should say streaks of games because it has happened twice. The first time was in 2022 and the second time in 2023. I have had a total of nine streaks of games without finishing a game in 2 guesses that have lasted 50 or more games, with the one that just ended being the shortest of those lengthy streaks.

This is the 10th time that I have started a game with 1.1.3 and finished it in 2 guesses. 

I also started yesterday’s game with 1.1.3. This is the 10th time that I have started back to back games with 1.1.3. I have never started three or more games in a row with 1.1.3.

My third, fourth, and fifth guesses have all been the answer in the past but my first two have not.

For a second there I thought that my current winning streak might be over. I didn’t try Plan B after my third guess because I only saw two possible answers at that point. It wasn’t until after my fifth guess that DOUGH came to mind.

This is just the fifth time that I have had 20 or more green letters in a game. Three of the previous four times this has happened occurred in Oct 2024 and the other one occurred on 03/28/22.

This game ends my current streak of games without successfully finishing a game in 6 guesses at 39 games. That sounds like a long streak but my longest such streak lasted 77 games. This is just the sixth time that I have had such a streak last at least 39 games.
