My average for the month is 4 and my overall average is 3.88. I had one 0Y (yellow free game), my first, and two 7G games this month.

Wordle-6 2022-09

My average for September (4.23) was worse than both my average for August (4.16) and my overall average (4.01). The good news is that my streak is still going and I have only been pushed to the limit once so far. Eighty-seven percent (24/30) of my games this month were finished in 5 or fewer guesses. Sixty-three percent (17/30) of my games were finished in 4 or fewer guesses.

Wordle 2022-09

I had three fails this month. In that way it was my worst calendar month since I started playing this game. I finished the month with my best monthly average (3.85) without counting fails. My monthly average including fails (4.07) was also pretty good. I also finished the month with more 4-guess games and less 5-guess games than in any other calendar month. I know there’s an element of luck in this game but I’m still pleased to see how the month wound down considering how it was looking on the 20th.

I usually roll my eyes when I see that my first word is a 0-1-4. This time was no exception but finishing the game in just a few minutes in 3 guesses makes me very happy.

It took me a while to figure out what to play for my third guess. I didn’t think that SCALL was a word but I tried it anyway. I could have had it in 3 or 4 if I had tried SCALP or SCALD as my third guess but for whatever reason they didn’t occur to me as possibilities until after I tried SCALL.

This game went quickly but after the third guess I could see that there were a number of possible answers. I was ready to try HOLDER if my sixth guess had not been correct. I’m not sure what other possible answers there were if that had not worked.

This game took much longer than it probably should have. Even after I knew that it had to begin with the letter “i” it still took me 10-20 minutes to figure out what the 3rd and 4th letters were. I tried all sorts of combinations before I saw the light.

This one took me a while to figure out. My first two guesses were fairly quick but it took me a while to figure what to guess next. I knew that the answer could not be COUPS but it was the best I could come up with for my third guess.

My streak of 4 guess games ends at 5. This is only the 5th time that I got the right answer in 3 guesses this month. It is also the first time this month that I didn’t get any green tiles until my final guess.

I think I got lucky using QUILT as a start word and in general with today’s game. This makes 4 days in a row that I’ve finished the game on the 4th guess. This streak is now my second shortest. Yay!

I’m not sure what exactly moved me to make CHAOS my second guess but it made a huge difference. Originally I was thinking maybe a word that ended with ST and began with CH but when I tried to think of one the first one that occurred to me was CHAOS. That was a lucky guess. I suppose the right answer could also have been CRASS but that didn’t occur to me until just now.

This is my first fail this month and my fifth overall. I reversed the U and N and had two green tiles on the second guess and still couldn’t get it. I think that GAUNT and JAUNT were good guesses. I just forgot about TAUNT as a possible answer.
