This one took me about 10-15 minutes. It took me 5 or more words to figure out what to play for each of my second and third guesses.

I checked my start word list when I was trying to figure out what my second guess should be. There was nothing on the list that fit the criteria for the second word.

It looks like this one gave a lot of people a lot of trouble. DIVAN was a lucky guess. If I had guessed something like HANDY then I would have had 4 green tiles but there would have been quite a few possibilities going forward. I was intent on making sure that my second guess had more than one vowel so that didn’t happen. It was a good call and I will try to remember it.

My first 6 of the month and my 6th one so far. If I had guessed G or Z earlier than I did then I might have finished this game in fewer guesses.

My second guess came from my list of previously used start words. It made it clear that there was only one vowel in the correct answer. I figured that there had to be more than one I in the correct answer and thought that it might end with LY. LIVIDLY was the first word that I came up with that fit. I wasn’t sure that it was a word but I tried it anyway. I was stunned to see that it was the right answer. There probably were other possibilities but I’m not sure what they are.

I have now played 75 games of Septle or 7-letter wordle. I have finished 57/75 games in 3 (28) or 4 (29) guesses. All but 7 games (9.5%) took 3, 4, or 5 guesses. I have yet to guess the correct answer on my first guess. I have finished 2 games on my second guess, 3 on my sixth guess, and 2 on my 7th guess. I have yet to lose a game or have a game take 8 guesses.

I have only once in 75 games not guessed a single correct letter on my first guess. Exactly one-third of the time (25/75) I get three correct letters on my first guess although usually those are yellow letters. I have guessed 4 correct letters on my first guess 28 percent (21/75) of the time but only twice have I guessed 5 letters correctly on my first guess and never more than that.

I went back to my word list when I saw that there were no green or yellow tiles in my first guess. There was just one word on the list that fit the criteria, so I played that. I don’t know if my fourth guess was the only possible answer at that point but it seemed like a solid guess.

This didn’t take very long, maybe 10 minutes. I thought about trying SNIFFER instead of SNIPPER. It would have been a solid guess but I’m glad I didn’t.

This is just my second 3.1.3 on my opening guess. My first one was on my very first game.

Very fast. I got lucky with this game. I didn’t have to think about it too much. I made sure the second word had a second vowel although even though it proved to be unnecessary.

This was just my fifth 2.0.3 in the past 210 games. My fourth one happened almost 3 months ago on Jul 14.

I picked my second guess from the list of start words I have used in the past. It was the only word on the list that fit. It took me a while to come up with my third guess but my fourth one didn’t take very long.

This one took more guesses than usual. It didn’t go super fast but considering how many guesses it took it wasn’t all that long a game.

This was just the second time in the past 73 games that it took me 7 guesses to finish the game. The other time happened a little over 2 weeks ago on Sep 18.

This is the first time I’ve had 30 or more green tiles in a game. The correct answer ended with ING in both of those games. I’ve only had 20 to 29 green tiles 4 times. Three of those games took me 5 guesses and the other one one took 7 guesses.

This one took me more guesses than I wanted. I overlooked the fact that CLOAKS couldn’t be the right answer but I guessed ALLOTS understanding that it couldn’t be the right answer.

I was ASTOUNDed to see that my first guess only included one letter that was in the correct answer. Maybe I shouldn't have been. It happens about 12 percent of the time. I went back to my list of start words to find a word that would be a good second guess. That tactic seems to have paid off.

I have guessed the correct answer in 13 of the past 14 games in 3 or 4 guesses. My overall average is 3.86 guesses per game across 71 games. That seems crazy.

This one was not quick. It took me a while to go from my first guess to my second and from my second to my third. Third to fourth didn’t take long. I got lucky to some degree with this one. CLASSIC could have been a disastrous guess. I could have guessed SIGNALS as my third guess but that didn’t occur to me until after the fact.

This is just the third time in 69 games that I’ve gotten 3 green tiles on the first guess. I’ve never gotten more than 3 on the first guess.
